TalaTek is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) Internship Program, and is proud to welcome Brian Thiellen as the inaugural member of the TalaTek ISCM Internship Program.
The Internship Program provides entry-level information security personnel with a unique opportunity to gain valuable Information Assurance (IA) professional experience. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate upcoming IA professionals based on the TalaTek methodology. The ISCM Internship Program strives to reach a balance between formal and on-the-job training. Working in collaboration with experienced IA professionals, interns gain real-world experience, ranging from the practical application of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications (SP) to ISCM program support.
Mr. Thiellen has always had a passion for information technology and has always felt comfortable working with computers and discovering their intricacies. Mr. Thiellen’s passion for critical thinking to solve complex IT issues is a driver for his interest in information assurance and the value it brings on a daily basis.
Currently, Mr. Thiellen is on summer break as a Fairfax County Public School teacher, having taught eighth-grade civics and language arts to students with special education needs. A perk of being a FCPS teacher is free access to certification training resources. With these valuable resources, Mr. Thiellen was able to achieve a high school goal: becoming CompTIA A+ certified. Mr. Thiellen obtained his CompTIA A+ in February 2014 and his CompTIA Security + in March 2014. He stated, “I see the internship program with TalaTek as a significant opportunity to gain hands-on experience and real world knowledge that I would not otherwise get in an academic setting.”
Mr. Thiellen graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s of education. He is happy for the opportunity to gain professional experience in this growing field and pursue his passion for IT.
