Even your Drone Can Be Hacked!

News from the DEF CON 25 Hacking Conference

Did you know that even your drone can be hacked? It’s not just your company website, your personal bank accounts or your home security system that are at risk.

Donny Wadyka and Brian Thiellen, from TalaTek, to always provide the most current risk management counsel to their clients, attended the 25th annual DefCon conference in Las Vegas. Donny and Brian actively engaged in conversations with other top experts on this year’s key theme:  Businesses and government agencies think their technology and facilities are secure, but they are not.

Some of the most-interesting points discussed were:

  • Your intranet is vulnerable – If your intranet is not protected by strong boundary authentication and TLS for all connections, there’s a DNS re-binding exploit that can compromise your security.
  • RIFD is not enough – Physical access to RIFD-protected facilities can be overcome in a matter of minutes by cloning an employee ID badge.
  • Light and sound are security enemies – Most motion detectors and alarms can be disabled by light and ultrasonic sound.

We, at TalaTek, are ahead of the hackers. Do your due diligence; don’t assume you’re safe. Contact us for an assessment and mitigation recommendations to reduce your risk of exploitation. We provide solutions that you can implement.
