University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)
University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) is a consortium of more than 100 colleges and universities focused on research and training in the atmospheric and related Earth system sciences. UCAR manages the National Center for Atmospheric Research with sponsorship by the National Science Foundation. As part of UCAR, the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate (COSMIC) Program develops innovative observational techniques using signals from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). COSMICs work supports the application of these techniques in research and operations for the broader Earth science community.
As a part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the U.S. Department of Commerce, the UCAR COSMIC team must ensure that their networks and systems adhere to the control standards laid out in FISMA and further defined by NIST. Leveraging our expertise in performing FISMA SA&A services, the UCAR COSMIC team engaged TalaTek to perform an independent assessment of their FISMA related controls and to provide FISMA compliance certification of their systems.
